Kaduna State Government Announces The Kashim Ibrahim Fellows Programme

Are you a graduate, aged between 25 and 35, with a public interest orientation and a capacity for critical thought? The Kaduna State Government invites you to apply for the Kashim Ibrahim Fellows Programme.

The one-year programme aims to create a network of high potential young Nigerians who are expected to rise to top leadership positions in the public sector and other spheres of activity over the next decade. The overall mission of the non-partisan programme, as envisioned by Governor Nasir el-Rufai, “is to raise the next generation of leaders who will most likely be absorbed into the Nigerian public sector having had a first-hand experience of its workings and challenges.”

The Kashim Ibrahim Fellows Program

Kashim Ibrahim Fellows Programme will work with senior administration officials on ever changing issues and challenges. Fellows will spend a year as full-time, paid assistants to senior Government House Staff, Cabinet members and other top-ranking government officials in State Departments and Agencies. In this role, fellows will support public service delivery, attend interagency meetings and participate in the design and implementation of state government policies.

Fellows will receive salary and benefits equivalent to that of a Special Assistant to the Governor from the Ministry, Department or Agency for which they work. Kashim Ibrahim Fellows cannot receive compensation from any other source during their year of government service. Additionally, accommodation will be provided throughout the course of the programme. During the programme, fellows will also participate in the mandatory education programme which includes seminars, speaker series and policy trips.

In return for the privilege of participating in the Fellowship year, Fellows are expected to apply what they have learned by contributing to Kaduna State and the nation as greater leaders in their respective communities, professions, and in public service. Fellows are expected to return to their former or new occupations more experienced in public policy decision-making and better prepared to contribute to state and national affairs, thereby fulfilling the mission of the programme.

To be eligible as a Kashim Ibrahim Fellow, applicants must demonstrate a public interest orientation, and must have graduated from a recognised university and completed the mandatory year of national service.

Interested persons should visit the Kashim Ibrahim Fellows Programme website to study the Programme Overview, and complete the online application form. All relevant details can be found in the KIF Programme tab.

The application deadline is 20th March 2018.

Kaduna State Government Assures All Residents of Their Safety

The Kaduna State Government wishes to assure all residents of their safety. The state government and the security agencies have taken appropriate action to secure lives and properties. Therefore, every citizen should go about their lawful duties, without let or hindrance.

The security situation is under constant review, including events that have taken place in other parts of the country. Our diverse communities will not be engulfed by negative conduct that has taken place elsewhere. The security agencies are staging shows of force and patrols as part of the effort to build confidence among citizens and deter mischief-makers. The police and the SSS are also engaged in outreach to our communities to update them and to provide reassurance. Our traditional institutions have also been alerted, and they are engaging people in their domains to keep the peace.

Every resident must live up to their civic responsibilities, and must shun and report anyone seeking or urging reprisals against innocents. The Kaduna State Government urges everyone to resist the temptation to take the law into their hands. There should be no recourse to self-help in Kaduna State. It will not be tolerated and will be punished accordingly. In times like these, every citizen is expected to do their duty to uphold peace and harmony.

Government wishes to reiterate that it will not tolerate hate speech and incitement. Members of the public should verify information before they share. Kaduna State is peaceful. No community or market is under attack, and robust efforts are being applied to maintain the peace.
